Stay away! He has no integrity! I made an appointment for a cleaning and check up and he said I had two cavities, one in a molar and one in a pre-molar which he said was on the side of my tooth and he called it a "surface cavity". So, he put a "temporary filling" in my premolar. A few days later the filling fell out and I was alarmed to see a big hole straight into the center of my tooth. A "surface cavity" doesn't sound like something requiring a big hole. I got a 2nd and 3rd opinion and was told that there is no such thing as a "surface cavity" and that what Dr. Agafontsev did to my tooth made no sense. The hole caused the root of my tooth to be exposed which resulted in me needing a root canal. My insurance stipulated that work started on a tooth had to be finished with the same dentist. He knew this and created the situation! I called him on it and he wouldn't talk to me. But I had to get the root canal with him! It was torture. He is an opportunist with no conscience. A few years later, the molar he put the filling in became infected and required a root canal. My new dentist told me the filling had been done poorly, too close to the root and if it had been done properly, I wouldn't have needed a root canal. Two unnecessary root canals thanks to Dr. Agafontsev. I can't stress this enough...he is not a good person and he does shoddy work.

There are no many choices for holistic dentists in Vancouver. I am happy that Dr. Serge is here and is my dentist. One can feel the old school when talking to him. He is very knowledgeable, gentle, and offers great service. I had few crowns done. He is against root canals. I am very surprized at the review posted here, it is as talking about two different people. I will never change my dentist. Some people are miserable with everything, the problem is inside them. Choose your people!
