Brought my mother (79 years old), under the coverage of the Ontario Seniors Dental Health Insurance to the York Region Health building located in Newmarket. My mother had a severe brain injury in 2016 and has been under my care every since. She is extremely frail due to her age and past injury. I had informed Dr. Rasta Roofi of her past medical conditions, in addition to filling out 14 pages of medical history and current meds my mother is currently taking. I am her legal guardian. My mother was placed on the emergency wait list for over 1 month due to severe dental and gum pain. Dr. Rasta Roofi, was very inconsiderate and extremely rude and in fact refused to proceed with my mother’s dental emergency care, because she claims that my mother wasn’t agreeable to the treatment and couldn’t force her?….I clarified to the doctor that I am her legal guardian and my mother’s understanding capacity is very limited and that I would be willing to sign a consent form to go forward with the emergency dental care. Dr. Rasta Roofi insisted I provide her with my legal forms of guardianship. I told her that I did have all this mentioned in the 14 pages that I submitted and at no time was I told to bring it with me. I suggested that my mom is willing to sign the consent because she is in extreme pain. Dr . Rasta Roofi, refused to treat her despite me begging that she go ahead with whatever she can to alleviate my mother’s pain. She asked us to leave and even demanded we get escorted out? Wow, how awful. We had waited over a month and took a 3 hour bus ride to reach there only to be treated with this lack of professionalism. Shame on you Dr. Rasta Roofi. I can’t believe you did this to an elderly lady that was pleading for help. I hope you find it in your heart, of how you treated us, was just so utterly wrong. Now my mom is left to go home back in a long bus ride still in pain and if we try to find another dr under the osdhp she will have to wait over a month. Shame on you Dr. Rasta Roofi
